CHILD OF SILENT WARS
OF HIDDEN SORROW Rosie Cresswell was born alongside her twin brother, Morgan, as the firstborn child of Vinda and Lyell Cresswell, a strict family of Pure-blood wizards and witches. Her childhood was marked with desperate attempts to earn the affection of her mother and father, yet after years and years of effort she learned it was a futile endeavour. Her father was simply indifferent toward her, detached and business-like. What he did, Rosie did not even know. Perhaps if she had been a male heir, she would have known the ins and outs of his business, the fast track to a legacy, but that role was left to Morgan by birthright. Alas, Rosie's father had little patience or, quite frankly, interest in a daughter and, as a result, she could count only a handful of times the two of them spent anything even resembling quality time together. This left her solely to the devices of her mother, a cruel and toxic woman who seemed to flourish in the misery of others – and Rosie, as it would turn out, became her favourite punching bag. When Mrs Cresswell reached a point where she could no longer force her daughter into obedience, she turned her attention to Morgan. This did the trick as Rosie would do anything in her power to prevent her brother from being put in harm's way. Rosie quickly learnt to fend for herself and her brother when it came to being in close proximity of their parents while growing up. Therefore, it was to Rosie's immense relief, when she turned 11 and received her letter from Hogwarts, while Morgan received his from Ilvermorny, the wizarding school based in North America. Rosie was, of course, sorted into Slytherin like her mother and father and for once, this sort of achievement earned her parent's acknowledgement. Hogwarts became Rosie's only escape from the Cresswells, and with Morgan at Ilvermorny, she could finally let her guard down. However, she still found it immensely difficult to open up to just anyone. During her first year, Rosie kept mostly to herself but that was until she met and befriended Song Yuri, a fellow Slytherin girl, who turned out to be her cousin. They had never met each other because their mothers had a fall out long before both girls were born. Nonetheless, Rosie and Yuri became inseparable and stayed together whenever they could. Although, Rosie's parents weren't exactly fond of her friendship with Yuri, they couldn't forbid her from seeing the girl since she was a Slytherin too. Later, Rosie befriended another fellow Slytherin, Noah McClair, who turned out to be a valuable ally and friend besides her cousin – and he is one of the few people who Rosie would trust her life with. For a while, everything seemed fine and Rosie finally began to thrive at Hogwarts. However, it turned out that her parents could still reach her from within the school's thick walls, because somehow it had reached their ears that she had befriended not only a Hufflepuff but Kieran Marshall out of all people, which didn't sit well with Mr and Mrs Cresswell at all. They already had a rough relationship with the Marshalls because of Kieran's older sister Naomi, who had caused an outright scandal at home when she announced she was going to be working with Mr. Cresswell. In turn, Rosie was severely punished for her association with Kieran and therefore, one would think their friendship would've ended right then and there but thanks to Noah – who had introduced the two to one another – they kept in touch, albeit their friendship was now more complicated than ever and reserved only for secret meetings. Later, Rosie found out that she was being closely watched by some of her fellow Slytherin peers and after a particular nasty episode at Cresswell Manor during a school break, she never dared to let her guard drop again. However, Kieran might be one of the few people, if not the only one, at Hogwarts who can still coax a smile out of the reserved Rosie. To any onlooker, the Cresswell's had everything. Rosie, in particular, was regarded with extraordinary envy from her House. The family’s wealth was incomparable next to those of their peers, and Rosie’s parents were unafraid of letting such a fact be known. But it was this very same wealth that Rosie grew to bitterly resent, which lost its allure to her long before she had reached any semblance of adulthood. To those who had never had it, there was something so tempting, so enthralling about it but Rosie had, at a young age, learned that wealth and power were not free and the cost had never been worth it to her. It had a dark side and surrendering all to its pursuit? One may as well sell their soul to the devil. It robbed her of a family with any semblance of genuine affection, and left her only with a father who was a slave to money, power, and the vices of both and a mother who expected nothing less than absolute perfection from her only daughter. It was exhausting and hopeless, and even a girl with the mental and emotional fortitude of Rosie could only take so much. Rosie quickly learnt to fend for herself by doing exactly what her parents wanted and as long as she abides by their rules, she can protect her brother too. As a result, Rosie learnt to stay silent and hide her feelings (feelings that she later thought of as a weakness) behind an unreadable mask of indifference in order to distance herself from the vices of her parents. Because of this, people rarely see her without some sort of guard up. The only place where she lets her guard drop is Hogwarts, but even that doesn't happen in front of anyone and certainly not the entire school. Only a few selected people have seen her lively and animated once the mask is ripped away but it is by no means any less guarded, an unfortunate by-product of her upbringing. Behind the mask, Rosie is part pacifist and part coward. The latter obvious in the way she continues to live two lives not truly committing to one or the other, because she is afraid to stand up to her parents. Although if she was forced to choose, and a part of her has already made the choice, family would always win above all else. It means Rosie can be fickle at best, often appearing volatile in her moods to those who do not know her well enough. In truth, Rosie's fickle, caught between the cross-roads, and whilst she is genuine when she lingers to talk to people she shouldn’t, there is also a part of her that is genuine amongst her Slytherin peers. Unfortunately, this cowardice means it is impossible to win her total and absolute loyalty, unless you bear the House name in which case (almost) total loyalty is a given. |

A Virgo personality is a mix of intelligence, attention to detail, common sense, and commitment, and a woman born in this sign is very smart, modest, and capable. Trying to get close to this woman can seem intimidating at first, for she is likely to put on a facade of indifference in order to distance herself from others. However, she is not cold nor unapproachable but practical, realistic and cautious when it comes to starting new relationships. She will never simply give herself to someone without assessing their character and emotions shared with her from the beginning. Attracted to intelligent but distant personalities, a Virgo woman has a strong capacity to love, but chooses to wait for sharing her emotions until she is ready. Private and defensive, this is someone who needs her defense mechanisms respected but still broken by the right person. |

⎨CHARMS⎬
A charm, also known as an enchantment, is a spell that adds certain properties to an object or individual. Charms are distinguished from transfigurations in that a charm adds or changes properties of an object; it focuses on altering what the object does as opposed to what the object is. For example, the Colour Change Charm causes something to flash different colours; the Levitation Charm causes an object to levitate, the Cheering Charm improves upon a creature's mood.
|APPARITION|
Apparition is a magical form of transportation, in which the user travels instantly from one location to another, without traversing the space in-between. This is accomplished by having the user focus on a desired location in their mind and then purposely disappearing from where they were, to reappear at the desired location. Apparition is by far the fastest way to get to a desired destination, but is tricky to pull off correctly and disastrous if botched. The ability to apparate was a relatively advanced skill for wizards.
⎨CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES⎬
Care of Magical Creatures, also known as Creature Care is an elective course at Hogwarts that can be chosen by students in their third year. In the class, students learn about a wide range of magical creatures, from flobberworms to fire crabs, and even unicorns and thestrals. Students are taught about feeding, maintaining, breeding, and proper treatment of these creatures and many more.
⎨HERBOLOGY⎬
Herbology is the study of magical and mundane plants and fungi, making it the wizarding equivalent to botany. Herbology is a core class and subject taught at Hogwarts in which students learn to care for and utilise plants, learn about their magical properties and what they are used for. Many plants provide ingredients for potions and medicine, while others have magical effects of their own right.
⎨POTIONS⎬
Potions (Latin potio, 'beverage') are magical mixtures commonly brewed in cauldrons and used to create a number of magical effects on the drinker. Potions range in effects, nature, and brewing difficulty. An example of a beginners potion is the Cure for Boils, which is the first potion learned at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredibly advanced and challenging one is the Polyjuice Potion, that even adult Witches and Wizards have trouble with. |
